Ambassadors for Peace

“Ambassadors for Peace” is an effort -- through education, advocacy, and action campaigns-- to mobilize the youth of our community to build a youth-to-youth network on the issue of reducing and preventing youth violence. “Ambassadors for Peace” are young people ages 10-17 who are recruited and thoroughly trained in peace education strategies. Those who complete the entire training sequence are awarded T-shirts and training certificates designating them as “Ambassadors for Peace.” They are trained to work in their communities as youth leaders, modeling and teaching communication skills and habits of nonviolence to others that they can use in their everyday lives. The youth take part in a variety of role playing, reading, writing, discussion, experiential and other interactive activities. The objective is to empower youth to rise above violence. lick here to add text.

summer 2005 neighborhood clean-ups
and anti-violence rallies. A total of 125 parents

"Ambassadors for Peace" outreach events.

Through "Ambassadors for Peace" activities such as these, youth are recruited and highly motivated
to work in their communities as youth leaders, modeling and  teaching communication skills and
habits of non-violence to others that they can use in their everyday lives.

Workshop training uses a three-tier peace education approach.  It utilizes: Reading for Peace, Experiential Peace Activities, and Building Life Skills for the conquest of violence, using Martin Luther King, Jr., Mahatma Ghandi, and other renowned examples of non-violence in theory and practice.

In all, the youth take part in a variety of role playing, reading, writing, discussion and other experiential activities.  The objective is to teach, train, and empower youth to rise above violence.
